With October being #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness month, I felt deeply called to share Rebecca’s story with her mother's permission.
Rebecca was born still on 26 May 1990 at 39 weeks after a healthy pregnancy.
Her mother, Di, blamed herself for 33 years, suppressing her grief, while being told to "just get on with life”.
She never felt able to talk about Rebecca, to say her name, to show others her photo—
They didn’t want to know,
They didn’t know how to talk about her,
They didn’t want to acknowledge Rebecca’s death.
Di was wracked with guilt—
If only she had said something earlier?
If only she had not returned home?
If only she had spoken up?
If only, if only,
Followed quickly by—
Why Rebecca? Why me?
Why?
And as we sat connected through Zoom on different sides of the country, Di shared her story. We talked about Rebecca’s death, followed by her birth.
She showed me Rebecca’s photo: the most exquisite baby girl, newly born, with dark red lips and flawless skin. Eyes closed—still—and perfect in every way.
Rebecca’s soul came through immediately and clearly after 33 years.
We listened to what she had to say.
We heard her side of the story.
We understood why she left.
We felt her soul’s love.
Through the screen, I saw the light of Rebecca’s loving words enter her mother's energy field.
I saw it spread across her face,
Which softened gently with love and with knowing.
Di's tears, though silent, were loud and deep.
She shared that the heavy guilt had immediately lifted, her grief more gentle, her life already changed.
Thank you Di for opening your sore, tender heart to hearing this wisdom.
👆🏼This is why I do the work that I do. #babysoulcommunication is so healing, so compassionate, so unique. It humbles my humanity and stretches the edges of my own heart every. single. time.
Rebecca—we honour you, we see you, we thank you for sharing your light, your journey and your healing guidance.
Let’s unsilence Rebecca's name.
Let’s remember that she is one of countless brave souls who come to the Earth only to leave again soon after.
Let’s speak ALL of their names.
If you feel called, please head over to Born Energy's Instagram post and add a 🕯️ to honour Rebecca and all babies who have died 🤍
